Inspired by Francois Boucher’s ‘The Rising of the Sun’ the teacup and saucer feature Apollo, Thetis and the Nymph and is finished with elegant hand painted platinum details.

‘The Rising of the Sun’ painted in 1752 was originally commissioned by Mme de Pompadour and hangs together with it’s pair ‘The Setting of the Sun’ in the Museum.

A fine bone china teacup and saucer designed in an exclusive collaboration with The Wallace Collection, the Francois Boucher range.

Inspired by Francois Boucher’s ‘The Rising of the Sun’ painted in 1752, the teacup and saucer feature Apollo, Thetis and the Nymph and is finished with hand painted platinum details.

In celebration of the work of 18th Century rococo painter François Boucher (1703 – 1770) Melody Rose designer, Melanie Roseveare has based the collection on a selection of the paintings on show in the prestigious gallery.

Painted between 1742 and 1753, the range includes designs based on The Rising of the Sun, originally commissioned by Mme de Pompadour, To Capture a Cupid, Daphnis and Chloe who also feature in Vivienne Westwood’s celebrated corset top as well as surprise stars from The Pastoral with Bagpipe.

Perfect for use everyday though washing by hand will help prevent hand gilded silver trim fading over time.
