Melody Rose Inspiration – behind The Rock and Roll Collection

Melody Rose’s Rock and Roll collection takes inspiration from a lifelong love of music, art and fashion.

Music plays a key role in the artistic inspiration for Melody Rose founder and designer Melanie Roseveare from an early upbringing in the Rock and Roll loving city of Toronto, Canada seeing musicians such as Neil Young and David Bowie perform.

A move to London, England and the scene was set for the birth of The Rock and Roll collection.  With the city’s edginess and cooler than cool musical heritage, inspiration comes from a wide range of influences from Rock, Indie, Punk and Glam Rock to the fun of Funk, Disco, Dance and House music.

The now iconic skull designs first used in the upcycled range were developed in 2012 as a homage to fashion designer Alexander McQueen and mixed with a love of 18th century rococo design excess.

The Skull in Crown designs are a cheeky nod to England’s Royal Family and were first designed to celebrate the Queen’s jubilee.

Exquisitely handcrafted fine bone china made in Stoke-on-Trent, England’s
pottery heartland. Each piece keeps at its heart the tremendous quality that has
made Britain renowned for its ceramic heritage.  Durable enough for everyday use, the hand burnished gilding and glorious detail of each piece make them perfect for the grandest occasions, while the quirky imagery keeps them firmly 21st Century.
